Nicolas Matter is the only adopted child of Matthew and Don Matter. He was born and adopted in Soda Springs, Idaho, but when he was 6 years old his family moved to Frankfort, Kentucky for work. While he was there, he attended Frankfort High School. During his time in high school, Nicolas took up a part time job doing local landscaping work. He enjoyed his time outdoors and he loved making his environment a more beautiful place. To this day, Nicolas will often tidy up places he goes just to leave a room better than he found it.
After high school, Nicolas attended Franklin County Career and Technical Center, where he learned more about the agricultural landscaping trade. He continued his local landscaping work during college, even making a name for himself as a local small business owner and beginning to add employees to his operation.
After graduating, Nicolas began applying to places beyond Kentucky, hoping to make other places of the world a more beautiful place. At 21 He found work at A Place Like Home Terraforming as an entry-level landscaper. Although the offer was exciting, as the Neo Miami project was brand new and not many landscapers had been given such an opportunity, Nicolas found it hard to leave his parents behind with little chance of seeing them again. At his fathers’ insistence, however, Nicolas went. He has spent most of his life in Neo Miami, and despite the scandals and the hardships that have become characteristic of the settlement, he still seems to be able to envision a bright future for it.
